Why use an overlay material?

It is cost effective. Many concrete slabs are sound and do not need to be replaced. You may want to change out a design or freshen and update the look of floor or wall. An overlay is a perfect choice for changing design and color.

Are overlays as durable as concrete?

Yes if the substrate beneath them is sound the overlay in some cases can be even harder than the surface they are applied on.

Can I install an overlay over my existing sealed substrate?

In most cases, it is recommended the sealer be removed before installing an overlay. Remember the overlay must bond to the surface. You would not want just to bond to the existing sealer as this could be a weak bond.
